System Overview

Components

The following components work together to ensure that that each battery pack is being used and charged in an optimized manner.

water

Patented Intake Design

Optimized to provide the highest flow volume regardless of displacement volume at the boottom of the vessel hull.

mode_fan

Generator Impeller

Impeller is designed to cover 90% of the flow area for optimum revolutions of the generator.

bolt

Generator

Chosen based on size and electrical rating for charging the specific batteries for the electric engines.

ev_charger

Battery Management System

Maintains and switches the battery banks at charged level while monitoring usage and capacity of the discharging battery packs.

battery_full

Battery Packs

Battery packs are specific to the generator amperage rating and the vessels' electric engine power source specifications.

shield

Intake Protection

Bars protect the intake area and impeller from large objects entering the flow system.

At start up, the BMS checks the batteries’ capacities and levels; based on the level, the BMS chooses a battery bank for engines and a battery bank to be charged by the generator.

The electric engines start using the battery bank with the most capacity chosen by the BMS.

As the ship moves forward or there is a strong current against the displacement of the hull, water will be pushed through the intake nozzle of the EvoSurf system.

With the displacement of the ship as it moves forward, water is pushed through the intake, that will then turn the impeller inside the intake; the impeller is attached to the generator motor on top of the EvoSurf system.

The generator will charge the battery with lower level or capacity until the battery management system determines that the battery is charged or needs to bump the charge of the battery for maintenance purposes.

As vessel operations continue, the BMS will continue to monitor battery levels, temperatures, capacities and current.

Once the battery in use by the engines gets to certain cut-off level, the BMS will switch the battery being charged to the electric engines; the other battery that was in-use will become the charging battery by the generator.
